Description

Deliciously seared cod fillets glazed with a savory sauce, perfect served with rice or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 fillets cod (fresh or thawed if frozen)
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or neutral oil (for searing)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Optional: red pepper flakes or Sriracha, to taste
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Pat cod fillets dry and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, grated ginger, garlic, and sesame oil (if using).
  3. Heat olive oil in a nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear cod for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside.
  5. Pour glaze mixture into the same pan and simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly reduced. For a thicker glaze, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until glossy.
  6. Return cod to the pan and spoon glaze over fillets to coat well.
  7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • This recipe is easy to customize by adding your favorite vegetables.
