Description

This creamy orzo dish with ground beef is a quick and delicious one-pot meal perfect for weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta (dry)
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or deep pan, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Break it up with a spoon until fully cooked.
  2. Add the diced onion and garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to develop flavor.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes and beef broth. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  5. Add the dry orzo pasta and reduce heat. Simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is tender.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and half of the Parmesan. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes until creamy.
  7. Remove from heat and top with remaining Parmesan and fresh parsley. Serve hot.
