Description

Delicious Korean-style fried chicken served in soft bao buns, perfect for a quick meal or a fun gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 1012 steamed bao buns
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Toss chicken in cornstarch and flour until evenly coated.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet and fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Set aside on paper towels.
  4. In a saucepan, sauté garlic and ginger in sesame oil until fragrant.
  5. Add gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Simmer until thick and sticky.
  6. Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until fully coated and glossy.
  7. Steam bao buns according to package directions or until soft and fluffy.
  8. Fill each bao with glazed chicken.
  9. Top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy!
