- 1 lb boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/3 cup cornstarch
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 10–12 steamed bao buns
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
- Toss chicken in cornstarch and flour until evenly coated.
- Heat oil in a skillet and fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy. Set aside on paper towels.
- In a saucepan, sauté garlic and ginger in sesame oil until fragrant.
- Add gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Simmer until thick and sticky.
- Toss the fried chicken in the sauce until fully coated and glossy.
- Steam bao buns according to package directions or until soft and fluffy.
- Fill each bao with glazed chicken.
- Top with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!

- This recipe can be modified using other proteins like tofu or shrimp.
