- 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
- 2 cups dumpling mix (or homemade: 2 cups flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, 1 cup milk, 4 tbsp butter)
- 1 cup diced carrots
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley) for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion in a splash of oil until softened.
- Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Stir in diced carrots before adding the ground beef.
- Cook until browned, breaking it apart as you stir.
- Pour in the beef broth, scraping any browned bits from the pot.
- Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Prepare the dumpling mix according to package instructions or combine flour, baking powder, milk, and butter until just mixed.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling mix into the simmering broth.
- Cover and steam for about 10 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs.
